His commitment to his clients, the desire of creating jobs locally, and the enthusiasm to expand his services to other cities of the United States, allowed him and his associates, to start their own outsourcing firm. Therefore, Square Feet Engineering was born.
José Zavala CO-Founder, Civil & Structural Engineer
Mr. Zavala got his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Unitec, Tegucigalpa. From an early age, he has been fascinated by the building industry. Through it, rather than enduring our environment, we mold and tame it — and we do it massively. He has always believed this process to be intertwined with our very humanity and wanted to form part of it. This belief and care have driven his career as a designer. Mr. Zavala has been the lead civil designer in a wide variety of small scale, large scale, residential and commercial projects throughout Sothern California. Furthermore, out of his academic and professional achievements, he was granted a complete Fulbright Scholarship to pursue his Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He will start this program in fall 2019. However, Mr. Zavala is acutely aware of how difficult it is for Honduran engineers to start their careers. His own start in the construction industry was a 70 hour per week job with no room for professional or personal growth. Eager to provide Honduran engineers with an opportunity to exploit their talents under a fulfilling and challenging job environment, Mr. Zavala along with Mr. Eduardo Ardón gave start to SquareFeet Engineering
Azariah Amador CO-Founder & Civil Engineer
Azariah Amador has a Masters in Civil Engineering From The Univeristy Of Tokyo, considered the best Superior education Institution in Japan. Azariah is a Civil Engineer with experience in the assistance of project and contract management in international ODA funded projects in South East Asia and Latin America. Azariah aspires to implement innovative efforts to resolve water resource problems for water-stressed cities and less developed areas that outgrow their natural resources, to help in the development of their water self-sufficiency and improved management for a sustainable development.
Juan Carlos Ávila, CO-Founder & CFO
Mr. Avila pursued higher education studies in both, Japan and Taiwan, after completing his bachelor’s in Engineering in Honduras. He has broad experience in structural and civil works design, as well as financial planning and data analysis. Additionally, he’s experienced the fast-paced and exhilarating offshore wind Japanese market, one of the fastest growing industries in Asia, as a project engineer in the first commercial offshore wind project of Japan. Mr. Avila envisions a world free of biases and stereotypes, in which competence and character are the main criteria to assess a person’s intrinsic value. He hopes SquareFeet Engineering can serve as a platform to overcome perceptive barriers and allow highly competent individuals to excel.
